Today I have a few really interesting tips to share with you on how to add texture to your coloring when you are using alcohol markers. This project is part of the Altenew Color Therapy Blog Hop so make sure to hop through all the stops for more ideas and inspiration.
Also, make sure to read all the way through for all the giveaway details and of course visit the Altenew Card BlogĀ and theĀ Altenew Scrapbook Blog.
So my projects today are a couple of bookmarks using the gorgeous Moroccan Mosaic stamp set.
I stamped the whole background image and then I cut it in three pieces.Ā For each of my bookmarks I used a different technique to elevate my coloring and add some more texture and interest to it.
With all the bookmarks, I started by filling all the shapes with a solid layer of color. By the way all the coloring is done using Altenew Artist Markers which are my absolute favorite alcohol markers.
For this first design, I used the bullet tip of my marker and I added tiny dots with a darker shade. I kept my dots more condensed at the middle and let the spread by adding less as I went out.
For my next design,Ā I simply picked one of the biggest shapes of the design, andĀ I added a stripped pattern, again using a slightly darker shade of the base color.
The third design is definitely my most favorite. For this one, I used a slightly darker shade of each color to add a shadow inside each of the shapes. This way the design got a 3 dimensional look that makes it pop beautifully.

What a fun idea to make bookmarks!
I like using the flicking technique when I colour, because I mostly do flowers so it works great to add high and low-lights.
Oooh! Gorgeous bookmarks!!! I love them!
I love all of the new ideas!
I still have a lot to learn with alcohol makers. I usually just layer the colors and try to get the edges to blend nicely.
Very nice bookmarks!!
What a fun stamp this would be to play with! Great inspiration!
Your bookmarks are excellent – I will make some. Thanks for the inspiration!
Cool bookmarks! I love the 2nd one – those colors are more unique than what we see every day. I have to admit that I’m not much of a colorer as I just don’t know how. So it’s regular coloring (at kindergarden level!) for me. lol
what a great use of a full background stamp! Love it
I love your bookmarks!! So bright and colorful. Of all the coloring mediums I have, I tend to use my alcohol markers the least. I’m not sure why because I truly enjoy them when I do use them. I simply enjoy coloring and working on that blend.
Great idea making the bookmarks – Beautiful. I love how you used the slightly darker shade to get the shadow effect !
Beautiful!!
WOW ! I love your bookmarks, they are stunning ! The various coloring techniques are awesome. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us.
Lovely projects!
Fabulous bookmarkers. Love all of the techniques. My favorite technique when I use alcohol markers is to remove color with blender or leave a little white showing where the light would hit the object I am coloring the most. It is sometimes referred to as the sweet spot.
So cool! What a great idea!
Loved your sweet and colorful bookmarks….I loved the way you used that stamp set…!!!! ..Cute picture of you with your planner…..adorable….thanks so much for sharing….!!!
Wow, Wow, Wow!! What a clever idea! LOVE your beautiful coloring and especially the “watermelon” combo especially!!
I love that you used this background stamp for bookmarks! I like how you added patterns with your colouring rather than filling in just solid colours!
SUPER cute bookmarks! Fantastic use of the stamps! Great coloring too!
Great bookmarks! i like them all. No special coloring except for flicking when I color flowers.
Excellent bookmarks!!

So cool, the way the colors pop!
Iām just in learning stage with alcohol markers so I have no technique yet.
Fantastic bookmarks! I love how they all the same pattern but look like a different pattern based on how you colored them in. Great tips to bring texture to your coloring.
Love the bookmarks! I just started coloring with alcohol markers in June, so I’m still a newbie to it. I enjoy learning how to blend colors together.
Your bookmarks are very colorful and would easily standout when marking your last read page. Thanks for the inspiration.

Cool bookmarks! I like how you have the dots radiating out from the star image. Love all the bright colors! I’m working on improving my coloring, and I’ve yet to try alcohol markers.
These bookmarks are super cool! I am definitely gonna make some! I am very, very new to markers. So plain and simple coloring is what I do with them. Though I would love to learn the blending techniques. I really want to learn how to do the speckled effect with them!
These are awesome bookmarks Zinia. I love reading and I enjoy making bookmarks (and tags) for gifts so I am thrilled to see these. A great job on them and I love how you varied the colouring for each. It really shows how versatile the satmp is as well.
I don’t have a fave technique with alcohol markers yet as I am still learning to use them but I love the feathering technique and hope to master it soon.

Love your bookmarks. What a great use of that fabulous stamp. I don’t have any alcohol markers. I want to practice more with regular markers yet. I am worried if I buy them before I am ready I won’t use them and they will dry up.
These are so cute and I think I need some to add to my friends Christmas gifts. Such a neat way to use the stamp.
Need to try these for to add to my Christmas gifts. Such a lovely way to use this stamp.
Regular coloring is my fave. Your bookmarks are lovely!
Nice choice to do bookmarks! The shading is gorgeous!
Really awesome bookmarks.
Thanks for sharing…
Love the book marks! They are so beautifully colorful! Thanks for the inspiration!
I love these gorgeous bookmarks! Brilliant idea and so pretty! Beautiful coloring.
Such vibrant colors!
So beautiful. Love how you used the markers to make your own additions. It really added the uniqueness to the bookmarks. Love!
I love the bookmarks! I’m so new to coloring with these markers, I’m definitely going to try some of these creative techniques. So inspiring!
I make a lot of bookmarks and love these that you have made. These markers are so much fun to use for coloring.
I don’t have any alcohol markers yet (but these Altenew Artist Markers have made it to the top of my wish list with this blog hop LOL) so I have no experience with them to have a favorite technique. However from your designs here I really like the “Just Breathe” dots, they are very subtle but very effective on the overall look. I can’t believe how different each one looks using the same stamp, great job!
What an awesome set of bookmarks. Love the bright and cheerful colours. Stunning.

Hi Zinia! I love the way you texturized this stencil. The bookmarks are great š Thanks for sharing!
Ooops! Forgot to say that I’m still really in the coloring stage of using markers…still love what you did with those textures and hope to find my own way in that regards š
so fun and the perfect thing to doodle on!!!
These are gorgeous!
My way of coloring with alcohol markers is lightest color, darkest color, medium color and light again…blending all to get a saturation.
Beautiful book markers!
Fab, funky, bright bookmarkers, wow !
I have no favourite technique yet as artist markers are still very new to me, I’m still battled my with just blending them but out of the three ideas you shared I like the shadow idea a lot. Thank you for sharing these & your tips x
I’m totally in love with these! I use bookmarks in my Bible and will be making this ASAP!
Beautiful bookmarks! Iām pretty basic with my Artist markers and I usually just color with 2 shades.
Beautiful book marks, those colors you used really pop. Thanks for sharing with us.
These bookmarks would encourage anyone to read. My favourite is the green one – it looks like stained glass. They are all beautiful.
very colorful
The third one is my fave too! I don’t really know any techniques, I just like the blending that can be done with alcohol markers!
Your bookmarks are gorgeous! I love the detail and dimension that you added with the Artist markers. I definitely want to try your coloring technique!
Fun and colorful bookmarks. I simply color with markers.
These are beautiful!
Colorful and very pretty bookmarks š I haven’t used alcohol inks, so not really sure of which technique will be my fav š
Fabulous bookmarks Zinia! I have resisted buying the Moroccan mosaic stamp, but now I must get it! these look amazing and they can be a great activity for children too! Thanks for the inspiration!
